Looking for a Bokashi composting unit for your kitchen? Fit can help! Our unit has been developed to match our Tanova Designer Series pull-out kitchen bins so it's both stylish and a great performer.
A Bokashi unit is a fantastic way to reduce your household waste and turn food scraps (even meat and dairy) into a garden superfood. Why would you want to do this? Estimates are that around a third of the food produced in the world is never eaten; that's not just wasted food, it's also greenhouse gases produced for no good reason. Turning food waste into a garden booster puts that wasted goodness back into our environment.
Need a more local example? A 2008 Household Waste Data study by the Ministry of Environment estimates are that more than 229,000 tonnes of New Zealand’s annual landfill waste is food (that’s more than 400 Olympic-sized swimming pools!) and that 50% of that is avoidable.

Estimates are that more than 229, 000 tonnes* of New Zealand’s annual landfill waste is food (that’s more than 400 Olympic sized swimming pools!) and that 50% of that is avoidable. (*Household Waste Data study 2008 for Ministry of Environment.) The Tanova Bokashi unit allows you to turn your food waste into a garden superfood; it's responsible, safe, sustainable... and rewarding too! Our Bokashi unit is an easy to use, hygienic kitchen based system. It reduces your household’s carbon footprint and contribution to greenhouse gas pollution. It's comprehensive; it can take ALL food waste, even meat and dairy. Its airtight lid creates anaerobic (no oxygen) fermentation; so no icky odours. It's faster than traditional composting. It saves money: New Zealand estimates suggest it costs more than $870 million per year to dispose of avoidable food waste to landfill. The liquid that the Bokashi unit generates is a garden superfood that adds the good stuff back into your soil.
Minimum space required for installation: Width: 368mm Height: 430mm (allows for 2-3mm clearance under lowest component & 15mm at top. Actual unit height 413mm.) Cabinet Depth: 510mm

What makes Tanova the best?
The team at Tanova are ALWAYS on the lookout for new ideas to make waste management easier in Kiwi homes. Taking care of the environment is something we care about, so introducing a Bokashi indoor composting unit into our Tanova Designer Series range was simply a great fit. Okay, so we're biased.
Check out this Tanova Bokashi review from Asha Frost, a homeowner from Katikati:
"I love my inbuilt Bokashi system so much. The bucket design is awesome with the tap at the bottom and not having to pull the buckets apart (which is the system I have used before). And having the bran all nicely tucked in at the back in its own little container is pure design genius. Everyone needs one in their kitchen. I love that I can care about my food waste while still maintaining a beautiful looking kitchen by not having things sitting on my bench or in my pantry. 10 out of 10! Have already told my mum to get one in her new kitchen, and anyone else who comes to check mine out always gets a demonstration."
